Welcome to the UCA Library! Our online collection is always available for you. Use our QuickSearch service to search several of our databases at once, as well as the library’s catalog of books.

QuickSearch – Catalog and some databases

QuickSearch is convenient but limited. It only searches some of our databases, and does not always search full text. For more in-depth research, use the Direct Links to Databases below.

Featured Periodical Subscriptions

  • The Chronicle of Higher Education
A leading source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. Students might find it interesting, too!
  • The Economist
A provider of authoritative insight and opinion on international news, politics, business, finance, science and technology. Despite the prominent links to “sign on” and “subscribe,” all articles are freely available from within the UCA network.
  • Flipster
Our interface for over twenty popular magazines. Try the Flipster app on your mobile device, which allows you to download a magazine and read it offline.

Direct Links to Databases

  • Credo Reference
A collection of hundreds of reference books in many disciplines. This is a good place to start early in your research, to get foundational information about a discipline or topic.
  • EBSCOhost Research Databases
A comprehensive grouping of databases offering the full texts of over 15,000 periodicals, covering many academic disciplines and areas of popular interest. Included in the EBSCO databases are the most wide-ranging database, Academic Search Premier, and such stalwarts of specialized research as ERIC and MEDLINE.
  • Elgaronline
A collection of several hundred books, most of which deal with economic, political, and social issues in developing nations. UCA does not have access to all of the titles published by Elgar; to use the database most efficiently, select the "all accessible content" option under "refine by access" in the left sidebar on the "browse" page. In addition to the Elgar monographs, UCA has full access to the Elgar journals, which cover a range of disciplines, including environmental studies, law, economics, and the humanities.
  • Europa World Year Book
Provides political, economic, and historical information about more than 250 countries and territories, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.
  • IMF eLibrary
A wealth of information from monographs and periodicals published by the International Monetary Fund. This database is particularly strong for issues surrounding economic development.
  • Intellect Full Collection
Journals in the arts, humanities and communication.
  • IOPscience
Information from the publications of the Institute of Physics.
A collection of full runs of hundreds of academic journals, from the beginning of their publication up to a “moving wall” point ranging from five to seven years ago. JSTOR is one of the most reliable sources of highly respected, peer-reviewed scholarly writing.
  • SAGE Journals
More than 1000 journals spanning the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science, Technology, and Medicine.
