The first month of classes at the University of Central Asia (UCA) Naryn Campus got off to a bustling start. UCA’s inaugural 71 undergraduates acclimated to to residential university life on the Naryn Campus, getting acquainted with roommates and meeting fellow classmates from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Since arriving on campus, the diverse cohort of students have familiarised themselves with the characteristically small class sizes, challenging coursework and student-centred approach to teaching and learning that set UCA’s programme apart. The first year Preparatory Programme, taught by faculty from around the world, is helping upgrade students’ skills in English for academic purposes, mathematics and science.
19 October 2016, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - The University of Central Asia (UCA) opened its first campus in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic on 19 October 2016 with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov and His Highness the Aga Khan. The ceremony was held under the patronage of President Almazbek Atambayev.
21 September 2016, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - On 5 September 2016, classes began for the first undergraduates at the University of Central Asia’s inaugural Naryn Campus. 19 September 2016, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - The University of Central Asia (UCA) welcomed 71 talented young students and their families to its first residential campus in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic on 4 September 2016. The Class of 2021 includes accomplished students from Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. They were accepted to UCA through a competitive, merit-based regional admissions process. The University, which directly employs 285 people in the Kyrgyz Republic, invited faculty, staff and members of the community to mark their arrival.
17 September 2016, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - Phase I construction of the University of Central Asia’s first undergraduate residential campus in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic is complete. UCA’s 12,200m2 facilities include an Academic block (housing a library, dining hall, laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices and faculty housing) and a dormitory with three wings. The first phase of building accommodates up to 150 students; at full capacity, the Naryn Campus will span 125,000m2 and accommodate 1,200 students.
