Elima has taught at several institutions in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic and participated in the Summer School of Central European University, e-Learning workshops and international conferences. Her research interests include governmental finance, budgeting, revenue forecast, expenditure management, fiscal decentralisation and public finance reform in the Kyrgyz Republic. This also covers the broader area of the economics of education and her specific research niche is the higher education response to labour markets in Central Asia.
