Mountain Societies Research Institute

The Mountain Societies Research Institute (MSRI) applies science expertise to study complex earth surface and environmental processes that affect mountain societies. Its interdisciplinary research focuses on improving livelihoods, managing natural resources, mitigating the effects of natural hazards and climate change, and building community resilience in these challenging environments. Headquartered at UCA's Khorog campus, Tajikistan UCA campus, MSRI staff also teach classes at the undergraduate Earth and Environmental Sciences Department.

Projects

MSRI's objectives are to generate knowledge on mountain societies through original scientific research, serve as a knowledge hub, enhance the regional capacity to conduct sound research, inform policy and practice through engagement with key development partners, and disseminate knowledge among mountain stakeholders.
