This paper is intended for those interested in the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the Kyrgyz Republic. This paper is based on the results of anthropological research conducted by the University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration from October 2013 to March 2014. This paper highlights issues related to informal channels of communications for building business relationships; the role of women in the development of small and medium-sized businesses; and the degree of in􀀀luence of the development of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) on the infrastructure in the capital city of Bishkek.
