Applied Research Design for Beginners
The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA) conducted a two-week course on applied research design for 37 participants in Bishkek. It taught learners the basics of designing applied research projects, and was targeted towards independent analysts and staff at think-tanks, civil servants, and non-governmental organisations who wish to acquire applied research skills.

The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) conducted an exposure visit for its Small & Medium Business Management (SMBM) programme students in Khorog to the “Zari Pomir” stones processing company, and “Shiri Kuhiston” dairy manufacturing company.

SPCE Students Showcase Math Skills in Kyrgyzstan
On June 14th, Issyk-Kul was the site of the forth International Mental Arithmetic Competition. There was much excitement as 500 students started arriving from eight countries: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Lebanon and India. Nine mental math students from UCA participated from Naryn, Khorog and Dushanbe.

Naryn Students and Healthcare Workers Graduate from SPCE Programmes
The University of Central Asia’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) awarded certificates to 90 graduates (70% women) at its fifth graduation ceremony in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan on June 8th.

UCA Contributes to Naryn Town Development
The Naryn town government organised a fundraising event for the town’s regional development, and to celebrate its 150th anniversary in May. The event raised over 10 million Kyrgyz soms from residents, government departments, corporate representatives and medical institutions.

UCA Participates in Naryn Town Development
The Naryn town administration launched a round-table on May 31st to discuss the Naryn town socio-economic development programme from 2018 to 2022. It was organised as part of the Regional Development Concept of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting discussed possible development projects in Naryn, including potential collaboration with neighboring regions including At-Bashy and Ak-Talaa.

From Toronto to Kyrgyzstan: How the University of Toronto Computer Science is Going International
Along Kyrgyzstan’s ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean, known as the Silk Road, is the small town of Naryn. It’s a place where cars stop for the rush-hour herds of sheep, horses and yaks, which continue to fuel the area’s economy. Away from the town’s centre, unexpectedly rising next to the Tien Shan Mountains, are yellow, red and pink buildings, forming a most Instagram-worthy setting for learning.
