Civil Servants and Academics Tackle Development Issues on the Economy and Natural Resource Management
Fifty-five representatives from the academic community and government from Afghanistan and cross border regions of Tajikistan met to participate in two programmes in Kyrgyzstan as part of the University of Central Asia’s Graduate School of Development (GSD), which has developed two unique programmes tailored to respond to critical issues in these countries – economic development and natural resources management.

Fifth Summer Upgrading Camp Held in Naryn and Khorog
This year 130 Grade 9 and 10 students from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan participated in the University of Central Asia’s (UCA) three-week Summer Upgrading Camp in Naryn (Kyrgyzstan) and Khorog (Tajikistan) from July 1-19 2019.

Prince Aly Muhammad Visits Khorog Campus
Prince Aly Muhammad Aga Khan visited the University of Central Asia’s Khorog campus during a two-day private visit to Tajikistan in June. While at UCA, he toured the campus facilities, and learnt more about the School of Arts and Sciences’ contribution to education and research in Tajikistan.

Umedjon Nosirzoda, Deputy Governor of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast has been enrolled in English classes at the University of Central Asia’s School of Professional and Continuing Education in Khorog (Tajikistan) for two months.

Second Summer School on Learning Landscapes Kicks Off at UCA
The Mountain Societies Research Institute (MSRI) of the University of Central Asia's (UCA) and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) began its Second Summer School on ‘Learning Landscapes through Environmental Research and Monitoring” on July 3rd at UCA for 22 undergraduate and master’s students from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Boosting Tourism Development in Tekeli
The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) conducted a training for 25 tour guides in Tekeli (Kazakhstan) from June 25th to July 3rd 2019. Participants completed 72 hours of training, including both practical and theoretical knowledge, and was aimed at developing internal and external tourism services in the region.

“Naryn-Syr Darya: Three Stories of the River”
The University of Central Asia’s Cultural Heritage and Humanities Unit (CHHU) in collaboration with Tubingen University, organised a two-week workshop in June at the Naryn campus for artists and a research project team to develop futuristic concepts of peaceful coexistence of the Naryn - Syr Darya river and the social life of people.
